There is already a mono recipe in openembedded that will be used to
cross compile mono. It currently builds, but there are still some
issues in that it does not run correctly (see archives of this list).
Eventually, we will get it working. I'm currently using the n770
binaries on another ARM platform, but it is EABI (I think openmoko is
