I think the alioth shootout is only good to point us to what we can improve,
not as a general measure
of mono's suitability. There's much more than just raw performance.
A global register allocation for mono's jit is something that has to be
worked on but requires substantial engineering effort
to be completed. There's initial code to support it but it needs to be
finished and ported to 32bits.
