AFAIK, true Windows transparency only works if you have compositing support.
In your case each of your LTSP terminals would need to have
DRI-enabled X drivers above 3D accelerating video boards, for that to
work. That is normally not the case, because the high cost of such
hardware contradicts the main reason LSTP is frequently used, to be
able to reuse older hardware with newer (more demanding) applications.
You developing station, also need compositing hardware support, to
show true window transparency (software emulation in this case is just
